Acrylics
This series is made without camera or film. Using the transmitted coloured light of a photographic enlarger & chemistry, I create fields of pure colour, adjacent to one another and exposed on the same piece of light sensitive paper. They are produced in total darkness in the darkroom, in contrast to the luminosity of the finished works. Unblemished by the fetters of paint and brush intrinsic to the practice of painting these colour fields are then etched to blocks of acrylic.
Photography has abstract qualities that separate and define it. The acrylic series explores this notion.
